Flowers can complement and enhance your cake and cake table and overall style of your event. It is extemely important that any flowers used for your cake haven't been sprayed with insecticides or other toxic materials. Flowers that can be used include roses, orchids, lilies, violets and hydrangeas. If you would rather not have fresh blooms you can use sugared flowers, fresh blossoms or petals that have been coated with sugar.

You have three basic decorating styles when decorating your cake: add them on the tiers, place a cascading garland on the top and wrap it around the cake to the bottom or creating tiers of flowers that alternate with the tiers of cake.

If you choose not to decorate your cake with flowers, you could instead decorate the cake table itself with them. You may wish to place your bouquet on the table for guests to admire. Or you could scatter petals or have garlands of leaves or flowers surround the base of the cake.
